Trina Solar wins carbon footprint verification

GLOBAL leader in photovoltaic (PV) modules, solutions, and services Trina Solar Limited (NYSE: TSL) has achieved Carbon Footprint Verification for its solar PV modules from leading international standards and certification body British Standards Institution (BSI).

Based on standards PAS 2050 and ISO 14067, the Carbon Footprint Verification is widely used to quantify the carbon footprint of a range of goods and services. It enables organizations to conduct an internal assessment of greenhouse gas emissions throughout a product's life cycle toward identifying potential cost and energy-saving opportunities.

The verification process involves assessing the carbon footprint at various stages of a product's life cycle from the acquisition of raw materials, process activities phase through packaging. 

According to Trina Solar CEO and chairman Jifan Gao, the verification reflects the environmental benefits of the company’s products. Serving as a differentiator for its products, the verification demonstrates the firm’s commitment to sustainable development and a low carbon economy. It recognizes the company’s efforts in lowering the impact of solar products on the environment. 

Trina Solar remains focused on further refining the manufacturing processes and driving reductions in carbon emissions wherever possible, Gao said.
