In the first eight months of the current year, motor vehicle sales in Turkey totaled 543,070 units, up 11.8 percent y-o-y.

According to the Turkish Automotive Manufacturers Association (OSD), in the first eight months of the current year motor vehicle sales in Turkey totaled 543,070 units, rising by 11.8 percent as compared to the corresponding period of the previous year. Meanwhile, in August Turkey's motor vehicle sales saw an increase of 10.8 percent compared to the same month of 2012, totaling 67,412 units.

In the first eight months of this year, Turkey's passenger car sales amounted to 399,429 units, rising by 20.9 percent year on year. In August, passenger car sales in Turkey rose by 25.2 percent year on year to 51,611 units.

In the first eight months, Turkey's motor vehicle exports came to 541,459 units, rising by 13.8 percent, while its passenger car exports amounted to 308,367 units, rising by 16.3 percent, both year on year. The country exported 206,563 small trucks in the period in question, up six percent year on year. The revenue for total motor vehicle and component exports in the January-August period amounted to $13.92 billion, rising by 9.4 percent, while the revenue from passenger car exports totaled $4.58 billion, rising by 16.1 percent, both compared to the corresponding period of 2012.

In the first eight months of 2013, Turkey's passenger car imports rose by 30.4 percent year on year, totaling 312,796 units. In the given period, Turkey's total motor vehicle imports amounted to 376,107 units, rising by 24.2 percent year on year.
