UIS to construct new Abu Dhabi steel plant in April 2016

A joint venture between Abdul Jalil Group of UAE and SAFID Group, the Middle East's leading manufacturer of indoor climate solutions based in KSA, UIS will start production at the plant in the fourth quarter of 2016. UIS will supply products to customers from the Middle East, Europe, and Africa.

Al Diyar General Contracting Company of UAE has been engaged as the main civil contractor on the project. Zamil Steel Corporation has been contracted to provide the steel structure for the factory. Danieli of Italy will supply the majority of the manufacturing equipment to the plant.

The demand for galvanised steel in the GGC region has grown significantly in recent years, and UIS expects over 50% of the factory's output to be taken up by customers in the region. The rest of production will be taken up by clients in Europe and Africa. Regional demand growth has been driven by construction and government infrastructure investment, with galvanised steel products being used for a wide range of applications including roofing cladding and air conditioning ducting.
