TINE SA, Norway’s largest producer, distributor and exporter of dairy products, launched a new white milk, which has most of the characteristics consumers would want in their dairy: rich in nutrients, virtually no fat, but still flavourful. Because of this, the milk has been called ‘a new type of milk.’
Styrk milk is fat-free, but compared to other low- and non-fat versions, it still tastes like whole milk. The new product is fortified with extra vitamin D to meet the recommended daily allowance. Unlike other milk products, it contains 50% more protein and 50% more calcium. The nutrient content is higher since the milk undergoes a filtration process, according to the company. Every gallon of Styrk is derived from 1.5 gallons of milk. Furthermore, this helps retain the wholesome flavour.
The name Styrk means ‘strength’ in Norwegian, aptly describing what the product can provide those who want the nutrients but shun the fat, which is practically most end-consumers.
