Unicel System offers better skin care results with fewer products

A dermatologically tested skincare line for virtually all skin types, including sensitive and eczema-prone skin, the new SKINCOMM® UNICEL System of products is said to deliver evidence-based results more efficiently than some aesthetic procedures without compromising the skin's natural protective layer. Manufactured in Singapore, the system was developed by Dr Eileen Lee, founder and CEO of SKINCOMM®, who holds a doctoral degree in Advanced Aesthetics (Beauty & Wellness Science) from the InterAmerican University, and her Singapore-based team of scientists, chemists, and skin specialists.

"SKINCOMM® UNICEL System is the result of advanced beauty science combined with my 30 years of industry experience and those of my clients who also failed to achieve their desired results when using multiple products. It is no secret that I have used as many as 15 products twice a day in the past. Each product addressed a different concern, so they were all necessary," Dr Lee says.

"On 3D skin models in the lab at Nanyang Technological University, UNICEL ACTIVES YouthVital and UNICEL MASK YouthNutri showed a 54% increase in pro-collagen synthesis, a 429% increase in elastin, and over 58% reduction in melanin production," adds Dr Lee, whose company also offers science-based beauty and wellness treatments, including facial and neck skincare, and aesthetic procedures, at the holistic SKINCOMM® Experiential Centre at Forum Office Tower.

SKINCOMM® UNICEL System products are made in by Singaporeans, which Dr Lee is openly proud of. The beauty, skincare, and wellness industry veteran worked tirelessly with local scientists, chemists, and skin specialists for three years to develop and formulate the optimal skincare that originated from an idea that had been on her mind for years.

"SKINCOMM® UNICEL System is purely science-based; it has not been tested on animals nor is it derived from animal by-products," says Dr Lee, who also insisted on third-party testing of the non-GMO formulations.

"We shed about 600,000 skin cells per day, so we must keep it healthy. You can prevent acne, treat wrinkles, and keep your skin looking young by following the right routine. My goal was to address multiple skin concerns with fewer, vegan-friendly products that could achieve healthy, practically flawless skin in weeks instead of months.

"They also had to be free of parabens, fragrances, and harmful ingredients, as well as safe for long-term use," explains Dr Lee, who is also the vice chair of the non-profit organisation Love Links.

"I felt a sense of accomplishment after receiving the clinical trial and study reports. Test subjects with sensitive and irritated skin participated in a study at one of the laboratories at Nanyang Technological University, and none experienced adverse reactions. Most brands here don't conduct external testing," says Dr Lee.

"In tests, SKINCOMM® UNICEL ACTIVES YouthVital was found to increase pro-collagen growth by 54% in three days due to its ability to prevent atrophy and keep skin hydrated, supple, and dense," adds Dr Lee. "The 429% increase in elastin in three days correlated with the use of the products rather than no treatment, and the 58% reduction in melanin production and improved brightness proved the effectiveness of both products in providing a nearly flawless, brighter complexion in 21 days."

Two locally developed proprietary ingredients

SKINCOMM® UNICEL System comprises five products containing powerful, non-comedogenic anti-ageing active ingredients Dr Lee and her team combined into two proprietary science-based compounds. The first, SKINCOMM® AL-GLUTAS®, regenerates and re-energises skin cells, repairing damage and defects at the cellular level, and addressing pigmentation, sagging, fine lines, wrinkles, fatigue, and stress-related issues. It blends peptides from France that stimulate pro-collagen production, fatty acids that strengthen the skin, repair damaged lipid barriers, reduce water loss, and increase hydration, and beneficial botanical extracts that safely lighten, brighten, and even out the skin tone. Hyaluronic Acid (nano, medium, and large molecules) hydrates, minimises fine lines and changes wrinkle depth as nano-hyaluronic acid penetrates deeper into the skin.

The second patented proprietary ingredient, SKINCOMM® TriDefenxTM, protects the skin from UVA rays that penetrate deeply into the skin and can pass through glass, as well as UVB rays that damage skin cells and cause DNA mutations that could potentially lead to skin cancer and melanoma. Additionally, it reduces damage caused by, heat, infrared rays, and blue light – a crucial feature given the increasing use of devices.

Featuring refined lightweight textures, the products are mostly clear-based and should be applied gently with the fingertips. Although the day moisturiser-sunscreen is slightly tinted and the sleeping mask is white, they absorb quickly without a trace of chalkiness. Do they cost a lot? "Not if you consider that these five products accomplish what 12 to 15 single products combined are supposed to do and in a shorter time," says Dr Lee.
