LEADING food, home, and personal care product supplier, Unilever has recently acquired Talenti Gelato & Sorbetto.
Whilst the terms of the transaction were not disclosed, the acquisition will give Talenti access to Unilever's extensive distribution network and supplier's resources, which will help speed up its growth and leadership in the premium ice cream category. This development will provide Talenti, the best-selling packaged gelato in the United States, an unprecedented opportunity to widen its footprint, reach more consumers, and grow its business.
Talenti, meanwhile, will complement established Unilever ice cream brands, which covers Ben & Jerry's, Breyers, Fruttare, Good Humor, Klondike, Magnum, and Popsicle.
Talenti will maintain its production facility in Marietta, GA. It will continue to present unique flavour offerings in its recognisable transparent packaging, adopting old world methods in crafting gelato and sorbetto. It will also keep its commitment to quality, which includes carefully sourcing the best ingredients.
The company, which was founded by Josh Hochschuler as a store-front gelateria in Dallas, Texas, in 2003, has experienced strong growth since establishing its brand. Sales are expected to eclipse $120 million by the end of 2014.
According to CEO Steve Gill, "We are thrilled to join the Unilever family, work together to expand distribution and share Talenti love with even more ice cream consumers." Adidas
