THE Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) of Viet Nam said that coffee exports for the first five months of the year amounted to 966,000 tonnes, or about US$1.96 billion. Figures are up by 36.7% in volume and 29% in value as compared to the same period in 2013. In May this year, exports reached 154,000 tonnes worth $336 million.
The country’s major export markets are Germany and the United States, which account for 14.08% and 9.62% share respectively. These are followed by Belgium and France, which both increased imports in 2013. According to MARD, the country will produce about 1.75 million tonnes of coffee in 2014-2015.
