In the first eight months of the year, Viet Nam rice exports is at 4.2 million tonnes at an average price of about $429 per tonne, FOB. In comparison, the country had shipped about 4.17 million tonnes of rice in January–July 2013, at an average price of around $463 per tonne.
Moving slower this month, shipments are now at 163,543 tonnes in 1-15 August 2013, which is less than 30% of total exports of about 576,398 tonnes in July 2013, and about 18% of around 928,175 tonnes rice in August 2012, according to data from the Viet Nam Food Association (VFA).
But average export price is about $432 per tonne in August 1-15, 2013 – about 5% higher than average export price of $413 per tonne in July 2013, and up about 2% from average price of about $424 seen in August 2012.
Vietnamese aromatic rice, broken rice are mostly shipped to Asia and Africa. Other markets are Europe, the United States, the Middle East and Australia.
