Welding torch tips

Source:Ringier Release Date:2011-04-10 106

The welding torch consists of a handle, a connection valve, a mixing chamber and interchangeable burner nozzle according to the thickness of the metals to be welded. The gas connections lead to the gas cylinders (pressure vessels) and the connection valve regulates the fuel in the mixing chamber of the grip. In here, the fuel is mixed together with the oxygen flow under high pressure, and both are sucked in the burner nozzle.

The welding torch welds metal parts by heating them with burning gas. It has either one or two pipes that run to the nozzle. There are two gauges/ regulators that adjust the oxygen and gas flow. The torched is equipped with a bottle of pure oxygen compressed to 98% (200 bar pressure) and a bottle containing acetylene acetone (15 bar pressure).

Welding torches

The cutting torch uses a high temperature propane-oxygen flame for high quality and precise cuttings on metals and other materials.

The injector torch is actually an archetypal-oxygen fuel torch. In the injector torch, the two gasses are mixed and through a small nozzle inside of the torch head, the high-pressure oxygen is pushed out.

The rose-bud torch is generally used to heat metals on huge areas that require heating, straightening or bending.

Welding torch tips

In order to have a safe and satisfactory performance, the following measures are suggested:

> The tip of the torch should be clean and polished.
> One has to be careful while cleaning a welding tip.
> In order to get a perfect shaped flame, the surface must shade right angles with the axis of the torch.
> The orifice of the torch tip can be cleaned with a small file that scrubs and refurbishes the circular surface.
> It is preferable to hold the head perpendicular to the cloth and the head can be scrubbed back and forth.
> Any carbon deposit should not be allowed to accumulate and removed immediately.
> While using a welding tip cleaner on your welding torch, dropping should be avoided as the joints that are sealed may get damaged.
> Special welding cleaners are available that can be used to remove carbon.
> Welders while using a number drill has to be very cautious to see the orifice is not enlarged, bell-mouthed or deformed or reamed out of round.
> Proper gloves and goggles must be worn to provide when welding or cutting.
> Torch should never be lit with a matches or a lighter. A striker should be used.
> While using a torch, beware of people around.
> Welding hoses should not come into contact with torch flame or sparks from cutting.

 Duramax torch for plasma system

The wait is over for Powermax1000 and Powermax1250 owners interested in upgrading to the latest Hypertherm torch technology. Beginning today, those customers can enjoy all the benefits of Hypertherm’s Duramax? torch series, including more durability and longer consumable life, while using their existing Powermax systems.

Similar to the new Duramax torches introduced last fall with Hypertherm’s new Powermax65? and Powermax85? systems, the torches were designed with durability in mind. They can withstand impacts five times greater than the previous generation of torches and are more heat resistant so they can easily conquer the most demanding job.

The Duramax torches use a new Conical Flow? nozzle and spring electrode for longer consumable life. Hypertherm testing shows an up to 55 percent increase in the life of the Duramax consumables, which translates into a 30 percent savings on consumable costs.

The Duramax retrofit torches also offer convenience. They are designed with the same Easy Torch Removal (ETR) connection as the standard PowMercurial Superfly low
