Wrapping machine for confectionery

Wrapping styles and products are changing more quickly than ever in the confectionery and snack sectors. For manufacturers to meet changing requirements, they would need flexible packaging machines. Operating one machine that can perform many wrapping styles and different products is seen to be more cost effective than operating several machines.

Theegarten-Pactec, the packaging company from Germany, specializes in the design and construction of flexible packaging machines for small-piece confectionery items. Its new MCH allows manufacturers to respond fast to market demands. With a modular design, this wrapping machine supports the processing of different products and wrapping styles including double twist, side twist- basket, side twist-sachet, and foil wrap for both round and oval.

A confectionery company that recently invested in the new MCH wrapping machine is Mzuri Sweets in Kenya. Mzuri’s product portfolio, including ball gums, hard candies and bubble gums, calls for a packaging machine in the high-output area which allows the implementation of several changeovers every day. The experts at Theegarten-Pactec customized the machine to Mzuri Sweets’ specific requirements – a specialty of the German packaging machine manufacturer. This specific machine will be on exhibit at Gulfood Manufacturing (October 29 -31, Dubai World Trade Center) before being delivered to Kenya.

At Theegarten-Pactec’s booth B2-4 in Hall 2, visitors will be able to this high-performance packaging machine that allows confectionery producers to switch between folding types within only two hours, and between wrapping styles and product formats simultaneously within only five hours.

Gentle treatment of delicate sweets

The MCH’s continuous operating principle is particularly gentle on the products, as is the large diameter of the individualization plate, because this reduces the centrifugal forces which take effect on the product. The servo-driven wrapping material draw-off allows for exact draw-off lengths while ensuring economical use of wrapping material thanks to the “no product – no wrapping material” function. The stepless adjustment of the rotary gripper oscillation allows for different wrapping materials to be processed. The insertion angle is variably adjustable (up to 2.1 rotations). At the outlet, spliced products are automatically identified and screened out.

Wrapping materials that can be used are wax paper, Cellophane, polypropylene, polyethylene, and aluminium foil.

A machine with many advantages

The changeover time between the different folding types and/or product formats is between two and five hours. Innovation driver Theegarten-Pactec thus offers the advantage of short downtimes combined with high flexibility. In addition to all these machine-related advantages, there is another key benefit: the MCH’s fully automatic operation means that a single operator can take care of several machines.
