RESTON, Virginia - Not just experts, but students will be able to demonstrate their ability to design packaging at the World Packaging Organisation's (WPO) WorldStar Student Awards, an international packaging competition which will be held at the PACK EXPO International 2012. The entries will be based on these criteria:
? Innovation
? Aesthetic/shelf appeal
? Environmental compliance
? Easy to manufacture
? Convenient
? Global relevance
Packaging experts from the UK, Brazil, Kenya and other parts of the world will evaluate the entries, according Patrick Farrey executive director, Institute of Packaging Professionals (IoPP) and member of the WPO.
Charles D. Yuska, president and CEO of show owner and producer PMMI adds: “I’m very pleased to have the award judging on site at PACK EXPO International 2012. It fully complements PMMI and PACK EXPO efforts to support, encourage and inspire packaging and processing education.”
The three highest-scoring entries will be named “WorldStar Student Winners,” and the next 10 highest scores will receive a certificate of merit. Student winners will receive professional acknowledgment and the publicity surrounding the award. Award recipients will be recognised at the U.S. Student Packaging Jamboree in March 2013.
