DUBAI, United Arab Emirates - Yum! Brands (NYSE: YUM), the world’s largest restaurant company, announced today (October 10) that Irfan Mustafa, VP and managing director of the Middle East, North Africa, Pakistan and Turkey business, was recognised with the Pakistan Power 100 Award. This acknowledges the highest levels of achievement from within the global Pakistani community and promotes the outstanding contributions made by Pakistani men and women on a local, national and international level.
“Irfan is an excellent example of leadership within our company – from his ability to identify and grow future leaders, to his track record of business success and including his contributions toward the greater good of our global community – we couldn’t be prouder of his continued achievements.”
Amongst many notable achievements, Mustafa’s charitable and philanthropic efforts were particularly heralded. For several years he has been actively involved in social and community-based projects that focus on the development of youth, education and poverty alleviation. Mustafa is especially passionate about reaching the Muslim youth in Pakistan, the Middle East and the United States to steer them away from violence and to “use their minds” to compete in the world, to co-exist with those who have opposing values and views, and to elevate their stature as global citizens.
“The entire Yum! community is proud of Irfan and this signature honour,” said Micky Pant, CEO, Yum! Restaurants International. “Irfan is an excellent example of leadership within our company – from his ability to identify and grow future leaders, to his track record of business success and including his contributions toward the greater good of our global community – we couldn’t be prouder of his continued achievements.
“As general manager of our business in the Middle East, North Africa, Pakistan and Turkey, Irfan has built a powerful team with excellent relationships with our franchise partners throughout the region. His strategic vision and skill in working with people has led to rapid growth in sales and new restaurants and established KFC and Pizza Hut as brand leaders across the region. Irfan also plays a key role in training and developing future leaders for Yum! across the world.”
In addition to his local philanthropic endeavors, Mr Mustafa is a key supporter of Yum!’s World Hunger Relief program, which is the largest private sector hunger relief program globally, raising more than $115 million or 460 million meals in the last five years. Further, he gives lectures on marketing and management lessons in and outside of Pakistan. As VP and managing director, Mr Mustafa is responsible for the operations and management of Yum!’s presence in the Middle East, North Africa, Pakistan and Turkey, which includes nearly 1,300 KFC and Pizza Hut restaurants.
The top 100 recipients out of a pool of 33,000 entrants were honoured in a gala in London on September 29.
