UV absorbers
UV absorbers are functional additives designed to absorb ultraviolet (UV) radiation, protecting materials or skin from UV damage. Their mechanism involves selective absorption of UV light (200-400nm) through specific molecular structures, which convert the energy into harmless heat or lower-energy emissions, thereby minimizing penetration and harm.
The primary role of UV absorbers is to prevent degradation, aging, or discoloration caused by UV exposure. When added to polymer materials (e.g., plastics, coatings, rubber), they work to extend product lifespan, while in sunscreen cosmetics, they shield skin from UVB (burning) and UVA (aging) rays.
FOPIA's UV absorber products include:
Benzotriazoles (e.g., FENTASORB P, FENTAUNIV 1130): Heat-resistant, used in plastics and coatings.
Benzophenones (e.g., FENTASORB 531): Broad-spectrum, used in PVC products.
Triazines (e.g., FENTASORB 1577, FENTASORB 400): Highly effective, widely used to make premium sunscreens.
Blue light absorbers: Effectively blocks blue light, extends material service life, and maintains optimal performance.
UV absorbers are vital constituents that enhance product durability and safety, and are widely used in such industries as cosmetics, construction, automotive, and packaging.
