On automated production lines and in 5-axis machining, workpiece clamping is often one of the few steps still requiring manual intervention — stopping the machine, locking with a wrench, and re-indicating — which lengthens changeover and limits the adoption of unmanned operation and robotic handling. The Pneumatic Five-axis Self-centering Vise is designed to address this requirement.
Driven by an air signal and triggered by a button or machine command, the vise clamps or releases in approximately 1.5 seconds with no manual intervention, substantially reducing changeover downtime. Its self-centering structure provides ±0.015mm repeatability with stable clamping force, ensuring consistent batch quality and reduced rework. A standard air interface is plug-and-play: a single CNC can drive multiple vises and integrate seamlessly with robotic arms, enabling rapid scale-up of automation. A built-in, spring-loaded fail-safe keeps the workpiece clamped should air pressure be lost, protecting both personnel and equipment and providing the assurance required for unmanned, continuous operation.
