CHINAPLAS 2024 sets new record with 321,879 total visitors, a remarkable 30% increase from the previous year’s edition. Overseas visitors accounted for 73,204 (23%), which also hit record high

CHINAPLAS 2024, the 4-day mega plastics and rubber industries trade fair, concluded on April 26 with a record high of 321,879 total visitors, increased remarkably by 30% compared to 2023 edition. Another new record was also achieved with the number of overseas visitors reaching 73,204 (23%). The mega exhibition (April 23-26) boasts of record-breaking show scale of 4,420 international exhibitors, increased by 12% compared to the 2018 edition in Shanghai.

 

This is the first time for CHINAPLAS to be held in Shanghai after 6 years. The exhibition returned with a new look along with many highlights. Under the theme of ‘A Brighter and Shared Future, Powered by Innovation’, the exhibition promoted the high-quality development of the industry, injecting the ‘New Productive Forces’ to drive the advanced manufacturing transformation in response to the increasing demand for advanced technologies. 

 

Over 3,800 machinery exhibits, more than 1,500 raw material suppliers, and 200 world/Asian debut technology projects gathered in one place, making the exhibition a global stage of ground-breaking technologies. Visitors from around the world trooped to the exhibition venue to witness the live demonstration on the show floors and do business with thousands of exhibitors.  

 

Key highlights focus on emerging and future industries

The exhibition has become a platform for future industries. Nearly ten emerging and future industries related to new productivity, including new energy vehicles, emerging hydrogen energy, new materials, innovative medicines, biomanufacturing, commercial aerospace, low-altitude economy, etc., received widespread attention and were fully represented. Bringing into the front industrial innovations, cutting-edge technologies in automotive, circular economy/recycling, packaging and other sectors were introduced with various innovative solutions utilizing plastics and rubber.

 

 

Several concurrent events were also held. The World Trends and Plastics and Rubber Technology Summit was held concurrently and focused on artificial intelligence, internet of things, photovoltaic wind power, green hydrogen storage, new energy vehicles, lithium battery technology, etc., to explore hot topics.  Tech Talk featured five main themes, including “Eco-friendly Solutions”, “Advanced Packaging Solutions”, “Automotive Plastic Solutions”, “3D Printing” and “2024 New Materials”, unveiling over 30 of the latest, hottest and most breakthrough cutting-edge  technologies. Application in Focus, featured a total of 10 thematic seminars, encompassing over 60 hot topics, including photoelectric cables, low-carbon energy, medical sterilization packaging, integrated biomedical engineering, ready-meal packaging, automobile safety, environmental protection, etc. 

 

"Circular Economy", "Innovative Materials", "Digitalization" and "High-end Technologies from China" are the industry trends emphasized at this mega event. Spanning across these four directions, the organizer collaborated with the leading exhibitors to present cutting-edge innovations, demonstrating the advancement and “new productive forces” of plastics and rubber industries. At the same time, concerted efforts are being made to foster collaborative innovation among upstream and downstream sectors to expedite the development of “new productive forces”.
